The inaugural World Blogger Awards was held at the famous Hotel Martinez, Cannes during the Cannes Film Festival. Bloggers (with a combined total of followers in excess of 100 million) from around the world attended to pick up one of the prestigious gongs. With over 1 billion active users on Instagram and 1.4 billion on Facebook, winning an award takes some doing. That makes it even more remarkable for Kerllen Rego (Instagram: kerllenrego) who is a mother of two teenage girls winning the Best Fittest Mum award.
Kerllen is a social media influencer with over 230,000 followers specialising in fitness. According to Kerllen, she manages to balance her roles as a successful social media influencer, being an ambassador for high-profile fitness events such as the Royal Park Half Marathon, and being a full-time mum, because she loves what she does. She believes that this is the main reason for her success. Her followers can truly see that she has a true passion for what she does. As she looks so healthy and vibrant, she is an inspirational role model.
She shares her journey as a fitness guru with being a mother. Rather than posting convoluted photos that have been Photoshopped to death, she prefers to post photos that have been mainly untouched. This has made her story so much more appealing as it provides an un-doctored insight into her life. What you see is what you get. That has enabled her to build an unrivalled rapport with her followers who appreciate the genuineness of her posts. Kerllen believes that it is important to remain true to oneself and one’s values, and not try to be something one is not. This is one of the major factors that she attributes for her winning the World Blogger Award.
